In the second half of January, the Guinean mining company, Compagnie des Bauxites de Guinée (CBG), shut down their bauxite export facilities in Kamsar for annual maintenance for just over two weeks.

A team of engineers from TAKRAF’s Product & Service Center in Lauchhammer and TAKRAF USA’s service & aftermarket team, assisted maintenance activities at the wagon unloading (railcar dumper) and crushing facility on-site.

CBG had already engaged TAKRAF several months prior to the shutdown to jointly define the scope of work, prepare necessary repair procedures, and ensure that all required spare parts would be available on time.

The maintenance work included, among other things:

  • Change-out of spill plates and deflectors as well as the installation of additional deflectors at the wagon tippler.
  • Change-out of the gearbox on the TAKRAF primary sizer. The spare gearbox had already been manufactured in Lauchhammer prior.
  • Change-out of all four roller screen blocks.
  • Shortening of conveyor C-1.

Down below, you can find a variety of pictures taken on-site.

CBG’s advanced facility was engineered and supplied by TAKRAF and has been in operation since 2019. After supporting CBG during a previous shutdown in 2021, a now well-established and trusted relationship has developed, ranging from the supply of spare and wear parts to remote engineering support and on-the-spot assistance.

We would like to thank CBG for the continued trust and professional cooperation and are already looking forward to further collaboration. We would also like to thank our TAKRAF aftermarket teams and all stakeholders in supporting us in this endeavor.
